Mid 20th Century Oil on Canvas Impasto Icelandic Poppies

A vibrant mid 20th century oil on canvas, impressionist Icelandic poppies expertly executed using the impasto technique of generous layered oil paint applied with palette knife.

Excellent colour and condition, ready to frame. Signed lower left corner Desmond V.C Johnson.

Desmond was born in Dartmouth in 1922 and studied at the Falmouth School of Art. His work is listed in the National Archives and has won several awards, including first prize at a national exhibition at Plymouth Guildhall and a first prize at Devon County show. His paintings have found their way to international collections including the USA, Europe and Australia.
