Frank JAMESON (1899-1968) Portrait of a Lady Reading, Oil on Canvas
Fine original oil on canvas by listed artist Frank Jameson.
“A Quiet Read” - Daphne, a portrait of the artists daughter illuminated beautifully by the soft light of the morning sun from the open window as she studies the newspaper.
Frank Jameson was born in London and later moved to Birmingham where he attended evening classes in drawing and painting at Birmingham Art School.
Jameson had a love for St Ives where he was inspired by the stunning scenery. He stayed and rented the Loft Studio. He also became a member of the St Ives Society of Artists and exhibited frequently with his fellow artists. Jameson was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and also exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Paris Salon.
Presented in a period wooden frame, signed lower right corner. Overall in good colour and condition, one small area of paint loss towards the lower centre as shown, the rest remains stable but would benefit a light clean.
